Feeling the Christmas spirit at the twilight market

Today's twilight Made With Love Market was just lovely. It was hard to believe that the first one was a year ago - time flies when you're having fun!

Again this year, the Wynyard Chorale serenaded us with carols - they created such a festive atmosphere.

There was a vintage Christmas themed grotto which proved quite popular - Michelle's styling (and refurbished chair) was quite the talking point.

You can see the rest of the photos on the Market's Facebook page here.

Merry Christmas!

Twilight at Made With Love Tomorrow

It's that time of year again - the twilight Made With Love Market is on tomorrow! It's running from 4pm - 7.30pm and there will be so much to see and do.

You can have a photo with Santa in the vintage inspired grotto - these are free for families from 5-6pm.

As always, there are lots of stalls featuring hand made, locally designed bits and pieces.

There's food and music as well, just to keep you jolly and festive as you browse.

If you're a local, don't miss out on this amazing event - last year was huge and such a wonderful experience and I'm sure this year will be awesome as well.

It's held at the ArtsCape building, 45 Jackson St, Wynyard.

Hope to see you there!

Stallholder Chat with Billie Hardy Artistic Design

Name: Billie Hardy Artistic Design (Lara)
Location: Wynyard, Tasmania

What do you make? I make gift cards and art prints. I'm also a graphic designer, so what I did after I studied graphic design was that I combined my Fine Art and my design and made something that's marketable, that people could buy for gifts.

What/who inspires your work? My daughter inspires me just because she's so innocent and beautiful and I try and portray beauty in my work and make people see things differently, that they might not see as beautiful. Like a dirty old dandelion and try to make people see that as beautiful.

How does your location in Tasmania effect your work? Being in Tassie, the landscape inspires me. Coming from W.A. it's pretty boring and flat and can get a bit stale there, so being somewhere really pretty is definitely inspiring to me.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone thinking about setting up a regular market stall, what would that be? I don't do markets that often, this is only my third market this year. I really enjoy doing markets. Don't have any expectations, don't come into it thinking you're going to sell it all and then you're really disappointed going home. You just have to go and experience it. A lot of markets I've done, I've actually picked up contacts for design work and things like that. So that's always a bonus even if I don't sell anything.

Thanks so much, Lara for having a chat with us about your work and being a Tasmanian maker! You can find Billie Hardy Artistic Design on Facebook and the web.

MWL Market Bazaar October 2013

Saturday was a big day for our small town. The Wynyard Tulip Festival is pretty much the largest event in the year for the town. The only other time you'll see so many vehicles in Wynyard is the night of the Christmas parade - but that's a whole other story for a whole other time.

Like everyone else, I was wondering what the weather was going to do. Usually it pours and pours for show day (which was last weekend), so my reckoning was that the tulip festival would be a washout. And, it did rain but I'm pretty sure it rained more last year. The wind was doing it's spring thing though - I'd hate to have hayfever, if you do you have my sympathies.

Enough about the weather, as you can see from above there was a lot on offer at the market - fresh, local spring produce in abundance and plenty of lovely handmade goodies (is is always the case).

The above is just a small sample of the photographs from Saturday. You can view the rest here if you have Facebook.

Coming up on the blog next week will be our Stallholder Chat. This month we're chatting with Lara from Billie Hardy Artistic Design. Make sure you check back in for it - I think you'll enjoy it!
